* Why Raw?
A raw diet with all the nutrients intact gives dogs and cats the essential protein, vitamins and mineral they need for energy, vitality, and health. For bright eyes and shiny coats and strong healthy teeth and bones. A raw diet mimics the simplicity of nature.
Dogs and cats with their simple and short digestive systems are extremely resistant to bacteria so it's perfectly natural and safe to feed your pet a raw food diet.
Another fabulous benefit to raw is the reduced amount of waste to clean up!

HOO-RAW!™ was created from a desire to feed animals the real food that they need and want. HOO-RAW!™ is a unique formulation of meat, organ meat, ground bone, and montmorillonite clay that can be fed alone as part of a prey diet model or combine with Auntie's Pet Kitchen dehydrated vegetable and fruit blends for a more complete and balanced diet. Our goal is to feed and eat complete and balanced diets over time, not every single meal. For our animal companions we believe raw diets come closer than anything else on the market due to minimally processed and superior quality ingredients.
* Introducing Raw Diets
To Dogs: To introduce a raw diet to your dog we suggest mixing a small amount of raw food with whatever your dog is currently eating for 1-2 weeks for minimal gastric upset. Over time gradually increase the raw food and decrease the canned or kibble diet.
To Cats:Cats seem to have the worst reputation for feeding. Either the cat is finicky, picky, or spoiled because it won't eat what you put down. Because cats are smart they do present challenges when introducing a raw diet. Much of how you introduce a raw diet depends on where you are starting with your cat.
Dry only, combination of canned and dry, or canned only. Dry only is quite often the toughest "sell" since you are introducing a new smell and new texture. We have had the best luck with this progression.
Dry only – introduce canned food first; get your cat used to the idea of wet, textured food. Introduce wet food on a twice/day feeding schedule. When your cat accepts canned food, mix a small amount of raw in with the canned to introduce the new smell. It is then easier to then gradually decrease the amount of canned and dry food and increase the raw if you are tying to switch to a raw only diet.
Combination of canned and dry– again mix a small amount of raw food into canned food to introduce the new smell. As your cat accepts the new canned/raw combination then you can gradually increase the raw and decrease the canned and dry.
Canned only– if your cat is already eating only canned food fed twice pet day then try introducing raw either mixed in with the wet food or place a small amount beside the wet food to introduce the new smell and texture.
Regardless of where you are starting, don't be surprised if it takes several attempts to get your cat interested in trying the food. Persistence pays off!! Many cats that have been fed dry diets for prolonged periods actually have trouble recognizing a raw food diet as food. With patience and repeated attempts most cats will show interest.
Handling Raw Diets* How do I handle and serve your raw diets?
As with raw food you would handle for yourself or your family, good hygiene is critical. Make sure you wash your hands with warm soapy water. Clean and disinfect any utensils or working surfaces. It is also important to clean your pet's bowl after each feeding.
Labeling/Manufacturing/Ingredients* What does intermittent & supplemental feeding mean?
HOO-RAW!™ is not a complete and balanced diet according to the AAFCO nutrient profiles. Because HOO-RAW! is only the meat, ground organ meat, bone, and montmorillonite clay not all the nutrient profile requirements are met if feeding only the meat patties.
* Where do you obtain your ingredients?
All HOO-RAW!™ ingredients are obtained from USDA inspected suppliers and USDA inspected, human grade food ingredients. Our meat and organ meat are obtained from local sources and are primarily grass fed, hormone free antibiotic free animals. Our fruit and veggie blends sold under the Auntie's Pet Kitchen label are GMO free, human quality food as well.
* Where is HOO-RAW!™ manufactured?
HOO-RAW!™ is manufactured in a USDA inspected facility in Colorado that follows a strict HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) to help insure safety. We
*Why a USDA plant?
We chose a USDA facility for production because they are held to the highest standard for food production. All ingredients must be human edible to run in the grinder, patty machine, or stuffer when producing our dog and cat foods. We feed our pets our food and it is as important to our family as it is yours to have the best possible quality and safety for our pets food.
* What is Montmorillonite Clay?
Montmorillonite clay is a naturally occurring ionic clay mineral powder. The clay we use in our foods has
been extensively tested (by NASA in fact to use for our astronauts!) and contains only montmorillonite/bentonite clay with no additives. The clay serves as a mineral supplement supplying over 57 different mineral nutrients. The clay has the following benefits: strengthens the immune system; removes toxins from the intestinal tract; aids in digestion; soothes digestive system; good for teeth and bone strength.
